Saittiskaba

is a webpage competiton for comprehensive school pupils in Finland and Sweden.

Win a class trip!
We invite all Finnish and Swedish secondary school pupils to take part in the competition. Plan your own website on refugee and / or development issues and win a class trip to Helsinki or Stockholm!

Participation
All classes or groups aged 13-15 can participate in the competition. The minium size of the group is 5 and maximum size 25 pupils (+teacher). The pages can be worked on during school time or during freetime. The group needs a supervising teacher or group leader to participate and to enroll in the competition.

The theme
The theme can be approached for example by chosing a country, an area, a conflict, age group, time period, ethnic group, refugee policy, history, reasons and issues behind refugee problems, resettlement, return or internally displaced people. Chose a theme that interests you and your group.

The young people chose the target group thmeselves. For whom is the website aimed at. The target group can be for example young people in Finland or Sweden, or even further away, politicians, government officials, own parents, the pupils at your own school.

The site
The competition site should be a functioning website, that contains information. There should be at least 6 pages on the site.

You can use the Learning by Expereince material as a help (the "Paossa maailmalla" book, the "Paossa Ugandassa" video, or the www.finnref.org site). It is good to use different types of working methods when making the site. You can for example do interviews, questionnaires, visits, or even arrange a drawing competition at your school on refugee issues.

All sites will be evaluated in the same category. A good site is: informative, interesting, thought provoking, inventive, suitable for the aimed target group and interesting to look at.
