Viihtyvätkö pakolaiset maassasi?
"YES, because the people in Uganda accept anyone in any category"
Ugandalaisten, ruotsalaisten ja suomalaisten yläkoululaisten vastauksia kyselyyn, joka tehtiin Helsingissä, Oulussa, Vaasassa, Tukholmassa, Tierpissä, Haaparannalla, Kampalassa ja Jinjassa loppuvuonna 2003.
Webbisivulle valitut vastaukset on poimittu satunnaisesti yhteensä 230 vastauslomakkeen joukosta. Vastauksista on laadittu myös opinnäytetyö. Siitä kerrotaan tarkemmin jutussa "Kielteisten asenteitten takaa kuultaa tietämättömyys".
MINKÄ(LAISTEN) SYIDEN TAKIA ARVELET IHMISTEN PAKENEVAN?
RUOTSI
Jag vet inte riktigt, men jag tror att det är därför att dom är rädda för att dö (flicka,14,Stockholm).
Otrygghet, trivs inte i det land han/hon kommer ifrån (flicka, 15, Stockholm).
Politiska orsaker, krig, fattigdom och andra dylika orsaker (pojke, 14, Stockholm).
Att de har problem i sitt eget land (pojke, 14, Stockholm).
Kanske att det är bättre i det land dem flyr till. Att dem kanske har krig eller något sådant (pojke, 15, Haparanda).
Krig, föräldrarna skilj (pojke, 13, Haparanda).
Landets ekonomi m.m... (flicka, 14, Haparanda).
Krig, svält, törst (flicka, 13, Haparanda).
Krig, religions svårigheter, jakten efter ett fritt land att tala sitt eget språk, och bära sina egna kläder, som slöjar och sånt (flicka, 12, Haparanda).
Dom vill väl inte vara kvar när det bombas (flicka, 13, Haparanda).
UGANDA
People flee to look for better. People flee when they are escaping wars (girl, 15, Jinja).
Because of conflicts. To look for employment. To look for land for settlement (boy, 15, Jinja).
I think because of civil wars. Then there is also because of tropical dicision (girl, 14, Jinja).
Due to wars. Lack of social services, schools, hospitals... (boy, Jinja).
I think people flee because of wars which affect normal life by making it difficult for people to practise agriculture and even for children to go to school (boy, 14, Jinja).
They flee because of wars, poor accomodation, lack of enough water. Some more because their parents died, some flee due to love for adventure (boy, 15, Jinja).
Actually people flee due to many reasons but in summary, they do flee because of war in their countries or home lands, diseases, drought, famine... (girl, 18, Kampala).
To rescue their lives. To be safe (girl, 18, Kampala).
These people flee because of political instability. These also flee because of diseases and probably luck of good (boy, 19, Kampala).
People flee due to wars, instable political governments, conflicts (tribal) “genocides”, insecurity in their c`tries (boy, 17, Kampala).
SUOMI
Sodan, maanjäristyksen ja muiden katastrofien alta (poika, 15, Oulu).
Huonojen elinolojen, esim. saasteiden, veden ja ruoan puutteen, rahan puutteen tms. vuoksi (tyttö, 15, Oulu).
Parempien oppimahdollisuuksien ja paremman elämän toivossa (tyttö, 15, Oulu).
Skinien takia (poika, 13, Helsinki).
He eivät halua jäädä sodan jalkoihin, vaan tahtovat päästä parempaan paikkaan (tyttö, 13, Helsinki).
Sotaa ja sortoa, epäreilua elämää (tyttö, 15, Helsinki).

PAKOLAISET VIIHTYVÄT / EIVÄT VIIHDY KOTIMAASSASI, KOSKA…
SUOMI
He eivät välttämättä viihdy kovin hyvin, sillä usea ihminen syrjii heitä (tyttö, 13, Helsinki).
Moni ihminen paheksuu / haukkuu pakolaisia, jotkut taas auttavat ja ovat ystävällisiä (tyttö, 13, Helsinki).
Suomi on kiva paikka (poika, 13, Helsinki).
Suomessa ovat asiat hyvin. Paljon ruokaa jne. (poika, 13, Helsinki).
Pakolaiset aiheuttavat rikollisuutta, syövät yhteiskunnan rahoja yms. (poika, 13, Helsinki).
Man kanske får lättare. Butiker att handla i. Socialen kan ge stöd (flicka, 14, Vasa).
Det vet jag inte (flicka, 14, Vasa).
Finland är ett ganska tryggt land (flicka, 14, Vasa).
Jag har inte nåt emot flyktingar (flicka, 14, Vasa).
Flyktingar trivs kanske för att Finland är ett så fritt land, men om ALLA fick flytta hit hur som helst skull Finland bli överbefolkat (flicka, 14, Vasa).
Finland är kanske bättre på att acceptera invandrarna (pojke, 14, Vasa).
UGANDA
Because Uganda is a country that loves helping people and the people have love to each other and care for one another (boy, 17, Kampala).
Refugees like living in Uganda because the land is fertile and the areas which they are storming are peaceful compared to theirs (boy, 18, Kampala).
Uganda (my country) is financially not well so might at times fail to give the refugees the required support (boy, 18, Kampala).
Refugees don´t like being some but conditions do force them and with this a country that accepts them stands in for their rescue like Uganda (boy, 17, Kampala).
Refugees like living in Uganda because of the love and care it has for them (girl, 18, Kampala).
Because Uganda has good climate, better than other countries (boy, 14, Jinja).
In Uganda every one has his own rights (boy, 14, Jinja).
It´s because whenever they come to Uganda they are favoured and being provided house, food, clothing and other basic needs they require (girl, 15, Jinja).
It is because Uganda is the pearl of Africa and the most suitable for human settlement (girl, 16, Jinja).
Because Uganda is beautiful and is a pearl of Africa and on top of that ugandians are loving people (girl, 15, Jinja).
It´s because Ugandan people are social and co operative (girl, 15, Jinja).
Because the people of Uganda accept anyone of any category (boy,14, Jinja).
RUOTSI
Sverige är ett bra och fredligt land. Men det finns mycket dåligt också (flicka, 14, Tierp).
Jag vet faktiskt inte, men dom flesta gör nog inte det. För att det är så stort hat mot dem (flicka, 15, Tierp).
För att det har inte vart krig här på över 200 år och det för bättre ekonomi och bostäder (pojke, 14, Tierp).
För att dem får pengar (pojke, 14, Tierp).
Jag tror att alla vill bo i det landet de kommer från (flicka, 14, Tierp).
Det beror på. Är det mycket rassar och nazzar så trivs dom väl inte så bra (flicka, 15, Tierp).
Jag tror inte de trivs för att det har hänt att vissa flyktingar blivit missbehandlade (pojke, 14, Stockholm).
Jag tycker alla människor ska behandlas likadant. Vissa flyktingar trivs nog inte eftersom dom har svårt att skaffa jobb eftersom dom inte kan språket så bra (flicka, 14, Stockholm).
De trivs bra därför att vi har ett så bra samhälle att leva i (pojke, 14, Stockholm).
Vi har ganska bra med pengar och mat men ont om jobb och det kan vara svårt att få jobb för flyktingar och utländska överhuvudtaget (flicka, 14, Stockholm).

They can feel at home and forget all about what is going on in their home land (boy, 14, Jinja).

They are provided land to settle and they are provided basic necessities like education, treatment by hospitals being constructed for them, and shelter and even food since they never practise agriculture due to limited land provided for them (boy, 14, Jinja).

RUOTSI
Dom skulle få mer tillständ till Sverige eller Finland (flicka, 13, Haparanda).
Dom fick lära sig svenska bättre och att dom fick bo i sitt land och gå i skola och att det inte skulle vara krig så dom fick flytta tillbaka om dom vela (pojke, 13, Haparanda).
Dom skulle få mat till sitt eget land så dom alla skulle inte komma hit (flicka, 14, Haparanda).
Dom fick bättre kläder, bra mat och bostad (pojke, 13, Haparanda).
De får lättare att få jobb (pojke, 15, Haparanda).

SUOMI
...antaa pakolaisia tulla enemmän Suomeen! …antaa työpaikkoja, ruokaa yms. (tyttö, 14, Oulu).
…lähettäisi tarvittavat tavarat / ruoat sinne, ettei niiden tarvitsisi tulla tänne (poika, 14, Oulu).
Ne tarvis kavereita (poika, 15, Oulu).
…heitä voisi asuttaa enemmän jonnekin muualle…(tyttö, 15, Oulu).
Naapurit, luokkatoverit lopettaisivat ainaisen syrjinnän. Oloja heidän kotimaassaan pyrittäisiin parantamaan, saisivat tasa-arvon muutenkin kuin paperilla (tyttö, 16, Oulu).
Autettaisiin löytämään hyvä asunto ja työ sekä neuvomalla ihan arkipäiväisissä asioissa, jotta he helpommin tottuisivat ”maan tavoille” (tyttö, 15, Helsinki).
Ennakkoluuloja poistettais (tyttö, 15, Helsinki).
…antaa vähemmän rahaa, jotta he menisivät töihin (poika, 16, Helsinki).
